about
The Small Intestines are back with ‘Stop Pretending’, the third single from their debut album Hide in Time, out September 29.
Taking a step back from the dizzying jangle of the first two singles, 'Horse Riding' and 'Old Town' respectively, the Melbourne three-piece unveil a more pensive, vulnerable side on 'Stop Pretending'.
According to lead vocalist Tristan, the song tackles the doubt that can eat away at a relationship from the inside: questioning a lover's intentions for being with you, and which, for their own reasons, they don't want to acknowledge, let alone talk about.
Travelling at an unhurried shuffle, 'Stop Pretending' borrows from some classic pop melodies a la Nico-era Velvet Underground, and features a gliding, melodic guitar solo from bass player Rob.
Hide in Time is out September 29 on Meritorio Records (EU/USA) and Lost And Lonesome (rest of the world).
